About Branch & Beam

Built from experience.
Founded with purpose.

Two complementary areas of expertise. One team throughout your build. Lera leads homebuilding, design, and the client experience. Bobby leads the business, financial, and operational work that supports each project. Together, they bring personal attention and disciplined oversight to building in Central Iowa.

Lera Severtson

A builder with a designer’s eye.

Lera is Branch & Beam’s lead builder, guiding construction, design decisions, and the homeowner relationship. Her professional residential construction career began in 2018 and includes managing high-end custom homes with budgets well above $1 million.

She graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Design with a degree in Housing Studies and an emphasis on sustainability—an academic foundation spanning housing, design, architecture, and construction and project management.

She began at IronCrest Homes as a marketing and design specialist before moving into project management. She later joined Embarq Signature Homes, Hubbell’s luxury custom home division. Her experience spans estimating, budgeting, selections, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, client relationships, and director-level operational oversight.

Clients and colleagues have repeatedly sought her design judgment, and homeowners have returned to her independently for advice. She brings that same personal attention to the building process: listening closely, explaining choices, and connecting what will look beautiful with what will function well, how it will be built, and what it will cost.

Faith is also part of the foundation of Branch & Beam. Our Christian beliefs influence how we approach stewardship, honesty, service, and the responsibility that comes with building a family’s home.

Bobby Severtson

Business discipline. Practical field support.

Bobby leads the business and operational side of Branch & Beam: strategy, financial management, financing and lender relationships, land and lot acquisition, sales, and real estate.

His work helps keep each project financially and operationally disciplined. On the founders’ 2020 home, he identified and negotiated the lot and participated throughout construction. He also provides superintendent and project management support as needed—coordinating subcontractors, checking progress, and resolving jobsite issues alongside Lera.

Their responsibilities are distinct, but their work is closely connected. Homeowners work with one team that understands both the vision for the home and the decisions required to bring it to life.
